Dear Don Spicer,

Thank you so much for the FOL grant that I received. I used the grant money to purchase a stapler, staples, and copy paper for Khukhune High School's newspaper club that I have started. The club has been a great way for eager students to practice their English, writing, and thinking skills. The club is also an outlet for their many creative ideas. The result so far has been amazing, students have written about very important issues like AIDS and rape. The students are very creative and now they finally have the means to express themselves. The first issue has just come out and is selling very well. The club is selling the paper at a small fee so that they can buy more supplies and keep it going. On behalf of the students at Khukhune High School, I would like to thank you again for the much appreciated FOL grant.

Yours sincerely,
Matthew Osborne-Smith

Dear Mr. Spicer,

I would like to thank you for once again donating funds to the Khukhune High School newspaper club. In 2001, an FOL grant which went to purchase paper and staples, helped start this newspaper club. Recently, the club received a donation from a non-profit organization in the U.S. of a computer and a printer. Thankfully, the students can now put together the newspaper themselves. They are now learning computer literacy on top of improving their English and writing skills. Since the computer and the printer came from the U.S., it was unfortunately not compatible with the system here. Your FOL grant has been used to purchase a converter for the printer, proper electric cords, and a circuit board. Now the computer and printer are working just fine. The club will use the computer in various income-generating ways in order to have money for future computer needs. For this initial equipment, club funds from newspaper sales, which are simply for more paper and staples, would not have been adequate. Therefore our club is very grateful for your support and very happy that the computer is now running. On behalf of the Khukhune Newspaper Club, thank you very much.

Sincerely yours,
Matthew Osborne-Smith
